Event Details

Join us as we launch our 2021 fundraising campaign with a virtual town hall discussing the presidential election with two prominent journalists who have front-row seats to our nation’s political landscape.

Jim VandeHei is a co-founder and CEO of Axios. He also co-founded and led Politico. He first earned his journalism credentials as a national political reporter and White House correspondent for The Washington Post.

USA Today’s Susan Page has covered six White House administrations and 10 presidential elections. She moderated the only vice presidential candidate debate between Vice President Mike Pence and Senator Kamala Harris.

News Watch co-chair Jack Marsh will moderate a conversation with USA Today Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page and Axios co-founder and CEO Jim VandeHei. They’ll discuss the presidential election and what it means for the country as well as for South Dakota. Plus, we will invite your questions to Susan Page and Jim VandeHei.

Co-chair Randell Beck will wrap up the Town Hall with a brief review of our mission, third year of operation and financial needs in 2021. Thanks to the generosity of philanthropists Dan and Arlene Kirby and a grant from NewsMatch.org, individual contributions will be matched dollar-for-dollar if received between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31, 2020.

South Dakota News Watch, founded in 2017, is an independent non-profit organization committed to reporting stories of statewide interest and impact.
